Woman on scooter struck, killed in northwest DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police say a 36-year-old woman was hit and killed while riding a motorized scooter in the Tenleytown neighborhood of northwest Washington.

The collision occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. Friday. District of Columbia police say the driver of a flatbed truck made a left turn from Connecticut Avenue onto 36th street, Northwest, into the path of the scooter.

Nadia Seiler of Wheaton, Maryland, was taken to a hospital, where she died. The truck driver remained on the scene.

The crash is under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
