Fairfax Co. firetruck slides off road into pole

WASHINGTON — A Fairfax County firetruck barreled into an electric pole Tuesday morning in the Alexandria section of the county, police say.

The truck was responding to a call when it went off the road and overturned at the intersection of Beacon Hill Road and Anthony Street around 4:30 a.m.

Beacon Hill road remains closed between U.S. 1 and Quander Road as police investigate.

At the time of the accident, the roads were slippery.

Four firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Power went out to about 200 Dominion customers because of the downed wires.
