Body found in deadly Capitol Heights house fire

WASHINGTON — A Sunday morning Capitol Heights house fire has claimed the life of a Prince George’s County, Maryland, resident.

Fire and EMS units were alerted to the blaze just after 9 a.m. They responded at the 5900 block of Crown Street.

A neighbor told 911 that the house next door was on fire and that they believed someone might still be inside.

When Capitol Heights firefighters arrived, they saw smoke.

After extinguishing flames at the rear of the house, a preliminary investigation revealed one deceased individual. The victim has not been identified.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, and an autopsy will determine the cause of death.
