Diamondbacks make multiple moves

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected the contracts of left-hander Andrew Chafin and outfielder Xavier Paul from Triple-A Reno, and optioned infielder Nick Ahmed and outfielder Roger Kieschnick to Reno.

The 24-year-old Chafin went a combined 8-6 with a 3.96 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 23 starts between Double-A Mobile and Reno this season.

Paul, who signed as a minor league free agent on Aug. 7, has hit .251 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs in five Major League seasons with three teams, most recently Cincinnati.

Ahmed hit .228 with a homer and four RBIs in 19 games with the Diamondbacks.

Kieschnick hit .195 with a homer and two RBIs in 25 games over three stints with Arizona.
