Man shot after nearly hitting Howard Co. officer with car

WASHINGTON — A Howard County police officer shot a driver who nearly struck the officer Friday morning.

The shooting happened on Fawn Crossing Drive in Clarksville, Maryland. Police said the officer who opened fire was almost struck by a vehicle driven by a wanted suspect, 38-year-old Tremayne Middleton Dorsey.

The officer fired his weapon, hitting Dorsey. The Temple Hills man was in the hospital in critical, but stable condition was of Friday afternoon, police said.

Police said the officer was not injured.

Dorsey was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants from other jurisdictions.
