Vigil set for teen who died at Maryland concert

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) — Officials at a northern Virginia high school are planning a candlelight vigil for a teenager who died of a suspected drug overdose at a recent concert in Maryland.

The vigil for 17-year-old Daniel Anders was scheduled Wednesday evening at C.D. Hylton high school in Woodbridge. School officials issued a letter on Monday regarding the death of Anders, who was a rising senior.

Howard County police on Wednesday confirmed that Anders was one of two people who died after attending the Mad Decent Block Party at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. Authorities had previously withheld his name at the family’s request.

Authorities said about 20 concert-goers were taken to the hospital late Friday, many with drug-related symptoms, and that a 20-year-old man from Raleigh, North Carolina, also died.
