O’Malley to discuss reducing hospital visits

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Maryland officials are scheduled to talk about new programs to reduce unnecessary hospital visits.

Gov. Martin O’Malley and Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, the state’s health secretary, are scheduled to join other state and local officials in Cumberland at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations is one of the O’Malley administration’s top 16 goals.
