WASHINGTON — A Falls Church, Virginia, middle school teacher is charged with the sexual battery of two female students.

Falls Church police arrested 36-year-old Jose Daniel Estrada, a 6th grade math teacher at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, and charged him with two counts of felony aggravated sexual battery.

Estrada was apprehended after an 11-year-old student came forward and said he made sexual advances toward her.

“The child was very articulate and credible and the schools took immediate action by administratively suspending Mr. Estrada,” said Falls Church Police Chief Mary Gavin.

Another 11-year-old girl reported similar abuse, Gavin said. The teacher, who had no extra curricular responsibilities at the school, was suspended the day of the report. Falls Church City Public Schools notified police on Jan. 17.

He was being held at Arlington County Jail as of Friday afternoon.

There may be other victims, detectives said. Anyone who things their child might have had inappropriate contact with Estrada can reach out to police at 703-248-5327.

“My concerns are there are more victims,” she said.
