Rite Aid employee shot, injured during Northeast robbery

WASHINGTON – An employee of a D.C. Rite Aid is in critical condition after being shot in the back during a robbery on Friday afternoon, officials say.

Around 12:30 p.m., D.C. police say a gunman walked into the store on the 1400 block of Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast, announced the robbery, then shot the employee and fled.

The victim was rushed to a hospital. Police say he is conscious and breathing.

Police are looking for a suspect they say is black with a dark complexion, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and in his late 40s to early 50s. He was wearing a tan cap, a red hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
