7-year-old left home alone in Va. calls to report burglary

STERLING, Va. (AP) — A mother has been arrested after officials say her 7-year-old child, who was left home alone to babysit an infant, called to report a burglary.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says the 7-year-old called to report a burglary shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. Authorities later determined that a burglary had not actually occurred.

Officers discovered that 28-year-old Amanda Gollu had left her 7-year-old child home alone to watch the 1-year-old child.

Gollu was arrested and charged with one count of child endangerment. It’s unclear if she has an attorney.
