UNLV leading scorer Vaughn out with left knee injury

LAS VEGAS (AP) — UNLV leading scorer Rashad Vaughn will be out indefinitely with a left knee injury, though the school is hopeful he can return by the Mountain West Conference tournament next month.

Vaughn tore the meniscus in his left knee in the Rebels’ 73-61 victory over Fresno State, but played through the injury, finishing with 17 points in 34 minutes.

UNLV said in a release that the freshman guard could possibly be back in time for the Mountain West tournament, which begins March 11 in Las Vegas.

Vaughn leads the Rebels with 17.8 points per game and is second with 4.8 rebounds.
