Domino’s tries pizza delivery via reindeer

WASHINGTON — Domino’s Japan had an idea in November: pizzas delivered by reindeer.

Alas, it was not meant to be. NBC News reports that the pizza retailer has canceled the caribou-based delivery program in Hokkaido after one week, after the reindeer “continually shook their antlers, refused to stop at delivery spots, and kept dislodging the pizzas from their delivery pouches.”

In what may have been part of the plan all along, Domino’s will instead deliver using GPS-equipped scooters adorned as reindeer. Customers will be able to track their orders through an app.
