Man seriously hurt in Chevy Chase car crash

WASHINGTON– UPDATE — Montgomery County Police initially reported that the driver in the vehicle was killed. A press release issued Saturday morning says he was transported to the hospital “where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.”

Montgomery County Police say a man was killed Friday night after crashing his car into a tree in Chevy Chase, Md.

Montgomery County firefighters found his car wrapped around a tree at the intersection of Beach Drive and Wyndale Drive around 8:30 p.m.

It took responders nearly an hour to remove the driver, who has not yet been identified, from the wreck. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

A report at WUSA9 Friday said the car was a Mini Cooper and that the deceased was the only occupant. It also said the speed was a factor in the crash, but that has yet to be confirmed by police. No additional information was available early Saturday.
