MLS suspends Red Bulls D Armando for 2 games

NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Soccer has suspended Red Bulls defender Armando and Rapids forward Vicente Sanchez for two games apiece.

Armando and Sanchez also were fined Friday.

Armando was disciplined for “endangering the safety of an opponent” in the 94th minute of New York’s 2-2 tie at Houston on July 4. Armando’s appeal through the players’ union was denied.

MLS says that Sanchez was punished for “serious foul play which endangered the safety of an opponent” in the 78th minute of Colorado’s 1-1 draw against Columbus on July 4.
