Laoretti, Podas withdraw from US Senior Open

EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — Larry Laoretti and Dave Podas are withdrawing from the U.S. Senior Open.

Laoretti, who celebrated his 75th birthday on Friday, was the oldest player competing in the event. The 1992 U.S. Senior Open champion shot an 11-over 82 in the first round on Thursday, then withdrew after 12 holes on Friday at Oak Tree National. He was playing in his 19th Senior Open, and he said it likely was his last.

Podas, who was playing in his first Senior Open, dropped out before his 2:45 p.m. CDT tee time because of a medical issue. He shot a 10-over 81 in the first round on Thursday.
