Obama advocacy arm sees fundraising dip

WASHINGTON (AP) — Giving to President Barack Obama’s advocacy arm saw a dip in the last three months, with donors forking over almost $3.9 million to the remnants of his re-election campaign.

The group Organizing for Action on Friday released a summary of its April, May and June fundraising. It showed giving has dropped off from the almost $5.9 million that OFA raised in the first three months of 2013.

Obama has kept pieces of his re-election campaign up and running, but it has significantly scaled back its advocacy activities and fundraising from high-dollar donors.

OFA raised more than $30 million in the 15 months after Obama’s re-election success, but earlier this year cut its paid staff in half.

Technically a nonprofit, OFA is not working to influence this year’s elections.
