Tractor-trailer smashes into front of house on foggy night in Md.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a tractor-trailer smashed through the front wall of a house near Hagerstown after running a stop sign on a foggy night.

Washington County Sheriff’s Lieutenant James Grimm says no one was inside the structure. He says the truck driver sustained minor injuries in the crash just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday about two miles north of the city.

Grimm tells The Herald-Mail that the truck failed to stop at a T-intersection and continued across U.S. 11 into the brick building. The crash also caused the porch roof to collapse.

Grimm says dense fog may have contributed to the accident.

A sign on the front of the building identifies it as the home of American Marketing. Calls to the business on Wednesday were not returned.
