2 killed in 4-car Gaithersburg crash

WASHINGTON — Two men were killed in a four-car crash in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on Monday night.

The Montgomery County police say that four vehicles collided a little before 8 p.m. Monday on Airpark Road. They say Stephen Diaz, 27, of Gaithersburg, was driving east on Airpark Road when he crossed into the westbound lanes, for reasons they’re still investigating.

His 1999 Honda Civic struck a 2002 Volkswagen Passat driven by George Thomas Carey, 67, of Laytonsville, and a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Farhad Gholami, 25, of Derwood. Hong Wang, 65, of Clarksburg, driving a 1997 Mercury Villager, also was involved in the crash.

Diaz and Carey were fatally injured, dying on the scene; Gholami and Wang declined treatment, the police said. They’re still investigating.

If you know anything more about the crash, the police ask you to call them at 240-773-6620.
