Fire strikes golf course in Howard Co.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a fire that broke out at a golf course Sunday morning in Howard County, Maryland.

Firefighters arrived at 12900 Livestock Road in West Friendship shortly after 6 a.m., after a passer-by reported a fire at the clubhouse for the Willow Springs golf course, officials said.

Officials were at the scene of the fire until around 10 a.m., when Howard County Fire & EMS declared the fire extinguished.

There were no reported injuries.

For the first time, early warning sirens sounded in historic Ellicott City on Monday evening, triggered by a flash flood warning from the National Weather Service. Despite almost two inches of rain in a one hour period, no serious damage was sustained in Maryland's flood-prone tourist destination, which suffered devastating floods in 2016 and 2018.
