WASHINGTON — Amazon has expanded its Prime Now two-hour delivery to several D.C. neighborhoods, three months after promoting the service in some Northern Virginia neighborhoods.

The two-hour delivery is free for Amazon Prime members.

Washington-area neighborhoods now covered by the service include Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Friendship Heights, Springfield, Arlington and Alexandria. See if your ZIP code is included in the delivery area,  and Amazon says if it is not, you can request it.

The Prime Now delivery service includes what Amazon calls tens of thousands of daily essentials, from staples, such as paper towels, milk or ice cream, and electronics, including laptops and Amazon Kindle devices.

In the Washington region, Prime Now two-hour delivery is available from 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

What do Prime members in Washington need right now? The list isn’t what you’d think.

Amazon says since launching in the suburbs in August, top items purchased for superfast delivery through the service include bananas, water, organic baby carrots and Haribo gummy bears.
