Passenger killed after car hits tree in Lanham

LANHAM, Md. (AP) — Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in a fatal crash in Lanham.

Prince George’s County police say a passenger was killed in the crash, which occurred around 10:15 p.m. on July Fourth.

Police say the driver was heading south on Lanham Severn Road when he veered off the road and hit a tree. The passenger, 62-year-old Gary Jackson of Lanham, was killed. The driver suffered minor injuries.
