Yanks’ minor leaguer Aceves suspended 50 games

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees minor league pitcher Alfredo Aceves has received a 50-game suspension after a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

The commissioner’s office announced the penalty on Thursday under the minor league drug program.

The suspension of Aceves, who is on the roster of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, is effective immediately.

Aceves was with the Yankees earlier this season and was 1-2 with a 6.52 ERA in 10 games. He is 31-16 with a 3.83 ERA in parts of seven seasons with the Yankees and Boston Red Sox for his career.
