Oilers sign Mark Fayne, Benoit Pouliot

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman Mark Fayne and forward Benoit Pouliot.

Fayne signed a $14.5 million, four-year deal with Edmonton. He spent the past four seasons with the New Jersey Devils, where he had 13 goals and 35 assists in 242 regular-season games. Fayne was drafted in the fifth round, 155th overall, of the 2005 draft.

Pouliot signed a five-year deal worth a reported $20 million.

Pouliot spent last season with the New York Rangers, helping them reach the Stanley Cup finals. He had his best statistical season with the Rangers, scoring 15 goals and adding 21 assists in 80 games. He had five goals and five assists in the playoffs.

He has 76 goals and 84 assists over 371 games with Minnesota, Montreal, Boston, Tampa Bay and New York.

The Oilers also signed defenseman Keith Aulie to a one-year contract.
