Frederick police say 27-year-old Dean Alan Stone, Jr. was arrested after an investigation uncovered that Stone not only robbed the Frederick City home on Jan. 24, but they also believe he had hit the same home four days earlier on Jan. 20.

A police investigator was able to track down a laptop that had been stolen from the home, and learned that it had been pawned. The information led to the suspect’s arrest.

Lt. Clark Pennington with Frederick Police says the investigation revealed additional items the resident had reported stolen on Jan. 24 were pawned at an earlier date.

Pennington says they were able to pull together the pieces of evidence to determine Stone hit the home twice.

“Based on the dates and records of when things were pawned, we know that the owner used the laptop later on in the week from when the first pawn item had been taken,” Pennington says.

He says that Stone was familiar with the home and the woman who lives there.

“So he knew where the items were and where he needed to go get them,” Pennington says.

Stone is facing the following charges:

  • 2 counts of burglary (1st degree)
  • 2 counts of burglary (3rd degree)
  • 4 counts of burglary (4th degree)
  • 3 counts of theft less than $1000
