ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Two bicyclists have been hospitalized after being hit by a car in Anne Arundel County, and police say alcohol contributed to the crash.

Anne Arundel County police say the crash happened Saturday around 2 p.m. on Governor Ritchie Highway in Annapolis. Police say the driver of a Nissan failed to drive in a single lane and entered the right shoulder, where she hit the bicyclists.

The bicyclists were flown by helicopter to a hospital. Police identified one of the bicyclists as 23-year-old Katie Pohler of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Police say she has life-threatening injuries. Police identified the other bicyclist as 27-year-old Todd Green of Severna Park, Maryland. Police say he is in serious condition.

Police say charges are pending against the driver of the Nissan, 54-year-old Robin Colbert of Annapolis.
