Man charged with stealing coins from parking garage meters (Video)

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County Police have arrested a man they say stole $1,000 in quarters from parking meters at a county garage.

The department said in a news release that Transportation Department officials contacted officers to report thefts from meters in a garage in Silver Spring.

Police say investigators reviewed surveillance videos and identified a suspect. Authorities say on Friday, officers saw the suspect on the street and stopped him.

Officials say the man had two bags of quarters, with a value of about $1,000.

Forty-six-year-old Stephen Murray was arrested and charged with theft and theft scheme. It could not be determined if Murray has a lawyer.
