Video: Dez Wells’ thundering dunk — best of his career?

WASHINGTON — In case you haven’t seen it yet, Maryland’s Dez Wells hammered home a powerhouse dunk on Penn State’s Donovon Jack Wednesday night during the #17 Terps’ 64-58 win.

The slam sent the bench and the crowd into a frenzy, and may have taken a chunk of Jack’s soul. Let’s not forget the terrific steal and pass by Melo Trimble that made the play possible, or the reaction of Jake Layman (0:22), perhaps the greatest of the bunch.

But when asked after the game if it was the best of his career, Wells had a surprising answer.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The storied Cole Field House at the University of Maryland has been completely transformed from an iconic basketball arena into a cavernous new football practice facility. University and state leaders celebrated the opening of the full-sized turf football field Wednesday as work begins on other pieces of the project, such as the football team’s new locker room and new medical research and athletic treatment facilities that are set to include a significant focus on concussions and other brain injuries often associated with football.
