Nats’ Harper wears Ledecky swim cap during NL east title win celebration

WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals just clinched the National East Division title Saturday, but did Bryce Harper have a good-luck champion’s cap?

Bryce Harper was seen wearing a swim cap that had Katie Ledecky’s name on it and sporting swim goggles, as beverages and liquids were used in celebratory fashion after winning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1, Saturday.  This is the third time the Nats secured a first-place finish in five years.

Bethesda native Ledecky responded that she was glad the cap was getting good use and congratulated her area team.

In August, Ledecky threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Nationals and Baltimore Orioles game. Before taking the mound, she handed her Olympic medals, four gold and one silver, to Harper one-by-one. The Nationals will now try to secure home-field advantage for the National League Division Series.
