Va. biologist hopes his rap video will spread faster than Zika

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A Fairfax County mosquito biologist has brought back his hip-hop alter ego to teach listeners how to prevent the spread of the Zika virus.

The Washington Post reports that Andy Lima, who goes by MC Bugg-Z online, posted a video on YouTube last month called “Zika 101 (Vector Control)” to address the threat mosquitoes pose.

“Yo, don’t get sick with Zika from the bite of a mosquit-a / Prevention is easy, relax and I’ll teach you,” Lima raps before going over the importance of removing standing water, where mosquitoes breed.

Lima says he hopes the song will engage the public at a time where they might be tired of hearing about the virus.

The song is the fourth insect-related tune Lima has written in the past 15 years.
