New app allows Stafford Co. parents to track location of school buses

STAFFORD, Va. (AP) — Stafford County Public Schools has unveiled a new mobile application that will allow parents to track the location of their children’s school buses.

WJLA-TV (http://bit.ly/2cgOApW ) reports that the My Stop app will let parents see where the bus is located, when it will arrive and if it’s going to be late.

Parents can access the application on their smartphones or by utilizing the online address mystop.staffordschools.net, where they can log in using students’ identification numbers.

The school district says in a news release that the application will show an icon on a green route that represents the location of the bus. The arrival times will recalculate if a bus is running late.

The school district says the software was purchased in a package that initially cost nearly $75,000.

WASHINGTON — Despite Stafford County's attorney saying the Virginia county's "hands are tied" about the huge Confederate battle flag that flies over Interstate 95, a group of Stafford residents opposed to the flag has filed a new zoning complaint with the county, and members say they may erect their own 80-foot flagpole to fly a Black Lives Matter sign. The group's new zoning complaint says while the Confederate flag and flagpole stand on private property, the pairing constitutes an illegal business sign, rather than a protected flag.
