Defending champ UConn, Duke to meet

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Defending national champion Connecticut will face Duke at the Izod Center, a building that has been very kind to the Blue Devils over the years.

The game will be played Dec. 18. It will be the 10th meeting between the schools with Duke leading 5-4 although the Huskies have won four of the last five. One of their most memorable games was the 1990 NCAA East Regional at the Meadowlands with Duke winning 79-78 in overtime on the first of Christian Laettner’s game-winning buzzer-beaters.

The Blue Devils are 20-1 all-time and unbeaten in 10 NCAA tournament games at the Meadowlands. UConn is 12-8.
