Police investigate fatal shooting in Burtonsville

WASHINGTON — A man has died after being shot in Burtonsville late Tuesday night, the Montgomery County police say.

Police responded to a report of an assault in the 4500 block of Sandy Spring Road at about 10:30 p.m. when they discovered a man in his early 20s suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local trauma center, where he later died.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown, but police say they believe that the victim and the suspect or suspects might have known each other.
