Man found dead after explosion, fire identified

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington police have identified a man found dead after an explosion and fire in a condominium building near Capitol Hill.

Officers said Wednesday that 46-year-old Christopher Christofi was found dead after the explosion June 4 in a building in the 1600 block of Isherwood Street NE. The explosion caused the building to collapse and damaged at least two adjacent buildings.

Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not ruled on the cause and manner of Christofi’s death. The fire and explosion are being investigated by local and federal officials.
