New Zealand adds Will Young to test squad after Kane Williamson retires from international duty

LONDON (AP) — New Zealand has called in Will Young to its test squad to replace Kane Williamson, who retired from all international cricket Friday in mid-series in England.

Young is scheduled to arrive in Britain on Sunday for the remaining two test matches against England, the team announced Saturday.

The The 35-year-old Williamson had scored 0 and 18 against England in the test loss at Lord’s last week and dropped himself out of the rest of the series which resumes Wednesday at The Oval. He then announced his retirement from international cricket.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Cue the trumpet. Edwin Díaz is back to close out games for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 32-year-old right-hander came off the injured list Wednesday after missing 85 games, having had arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow in April. “We just got a lot better,” manager Dave Roberts said. Fans were on their feet cheering when Díaz entered in the ninth to Timmy Trumpet's “Narcos.” He gave up two hits and one run while earning his fifth save of the season in a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. His four-seam fastball touched 98 mph.
