After a night of heavy rain, the D.C. region on Thursday will endure another dose of hot and humid weather conditions for much of the day.
As commuters are greeted with pockets of dense fog, courtesy of the late night showers, the day’s highest temperatures are forecast to get near the 90s, according to 7News First Alert meteorologist Eileen Whelan.
“Today’s weather is going to be a lot like yesterday. It’s going to remain very humid,” Whelan said. “We are going to see high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, with a chance for rain and storms — mostly later this afternoon and evening.”
Although no alerts have yet been issued by the National Weather Service, early indicators suggest scattered afternoon thunderstorms could have the potential to prompt flash flood warnings and lightning. “Be mindful of that,” Whelan warned.
Storm and shower chances are forecast to possibly run into the overnight.
Now, going into Friday, the weather is anticipated to be mostly sunny and much drier, with temperatures around 90 degrees. For the weekend, expect much of the same on Saturday and Sunday, although muggy conditions are due to return Sunday evening.
