A man was found shot outside his vehicle in Laurel, Maryland, early Monday morning, causing traffic delays on Interstate 95, according to Maryland State Police.
The shooting happened just after 4:30 a.m. on I-95 near Brooklyn Bridge Road, police said.
Officers found 28-year-old Ronald Victor Garcia-Rodriguez lying on the shoulder of the interstate with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According MSP’s preliminary investigation, an altercation took place before the shooting between Garcia-Rodriguez and an acquaintance, however it’s still not clear what motivated the shooting and whether it occurred inside or outside his vehicle.
All northbound lanes on I-95 at Route 198 were closed for more than six hours Monday morning as police investigated the shooting.
WTOP’s Traffic Center reported all lanes reopened for traffic just after 11 a.m.
