11-year-old charged with armed robbery, assault in Northwest

An 11-year-old boy is facing charges stemming from multiple gun-related crimes in Northwest last week, D.C. police said in a Monday news release.

The boy, who is from Northeast, D.C., was arrested on Saturday for his involvement in three incidents, according to D.C. police.

Last Sunday, on May 21, police said the boy demanded a victim’s property in the 700 block of Lamont Street at around 2:45 p.m. When the victim refused, he brandished a gun.

The boy took the victim’s property and left.

At around the same time of day on Wednesday, May 24, police said the boy assaulted a person while armed in the 700 block of Irving Street.

Police said the boy and another suspect rode up to the victim on bicycles.

The person pushed one of the suspects and ran. A suspect then pointed a gun at the victim, police said.

That same week, police said the boy robbed a person in the 400 block of Luray Place at around 6:45 p.m.

While on a bike, the suspect demanded the victim’s property. He reached into a fanny pack, police said, as if he was armed.

The victim handed over the property and ran away. The suspect rode away from the scene on the bike.

Police said they’re still investigating the incidents and asked anyone with information to call the department at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
