3 suspects claiming to be police break into Montgomery Co. home

Three armed people claiming to be Montgomery County, Maryland, police officers broke into a home, demanded money and assaulted a man in the process. Now, the real police are looking for them.

It happened before 3 a.m. Monday in the 21100 block of Archstone Way. Montgomery County police were called to a home for the report of an invasion. They found that the suspects broke in, identified themselves as officers and told occupants to get down on the ground.

The trio then asked for money and property, and were involved in a fight. One of the four victims, a man, was struck in the back of the head, causing minor injuries, a news release from the Montgomery County Police Department said.

As the three suspects were leaving without getting any money or property, the man who was struck in the head chased them down a stairwell. That’s when one suspect fired a shot toward the man, who did not get struck.

The three wore dark clothing and ski masks. Police said they do not believe the break-in was random. Anyone with information on what happened is asked to call 866-411-TIPS (8477).
