Two people were killed during a shooting in an Alexandria, Virginia, neighborhood on Saturday morning. Alexandria police received a report of shots fired shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday. It happened in the 100 block of Century Drive, near Duke Street.
Police said the incident started as a burglary shortly after 7:20 a.m. Saturday. One person was pronounced dead on the scene and another later died at a hospital. A person of interest is in custody, according to police, and there is no threat to the public. “We have, like, three different crime scenes,” said Alexandria Police Chief Don Hayes. “That’s why we have so many units out here. We had the burglaries in one location and possibly at another location, and then shots fired in another location.” Hayes said it is unknown if the suspect was looking for a particular location.
