1 dead, 5 injured after car crash in Prince George’s Co.

One man is dead, and five others were inured after a car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The two-car collision happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Good Luck Road near Robert Frost Elementary School in New Carrollton.

According to police, a preliminary investigation showed that 20-year-old Chris Brian Orellana of Lanham was driving in a car going eastbound on Good Luck Road when he lost control and crossed the center double yellow line, striking a minivan.

Police say Orellana was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the minivan and four passengers were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating what led up to the crash.

Prince George’s Co. approves universal basic income pilot program

People living in poverty in Prince George’s County, Maryland, are now eligible to get no strings attached payments from a new pilot program approved by the county council unanimously on Tuesday. Sponsors of the measure argue that many residents in Prince George’s County are “trapped in this generational cycle with little to no prospects for economic mobility,” according to the council’s resolution.
