Pedestrian struck, killed by hit-and-run driver in Camp Springs

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a man in Prince George’s County early Monday, according to Maryland State Police.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Branch Avenue just before the Capital Beltway in Camp Springs, according to police.

Felnibe Patefagou, 38, of Lanham, Maryland, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.



The driver who struck the man did not stay on the scene but is believed to have been behind the wheel of a 2001 to 2005 Honda Civic.

Police say that the driver of the car continued to travel north on Branch Avenue. The road was closed for a little over four hours following the crash.

Man convicted in deadly Popeyes stabbing sentenced to 22 years

The Maryland man convicted of a fatal stabbing at an Oxon Hill Popeyes restaurant in 2019 was sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison. "It was a senseless death," Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy said after the sentencing.
