2 arrested, 2 sought in police chase, crash that closed SB I-95 in Va.

Two people are under arrest, two more suspects are still being sought and five Virginia state troopers suffered minor injuries after a police chase on I-95 in Northern Virginia in the predawn hours of Wednesday.

The Virginia State Police said in a statement that the Fairfax County police told them a car that had been reported as stolen in New York was heading south on the American Legion Bridge a bit before 5 a.m. and that when the county police tried to pull it over, it sped off at more than 100 mph.

State troopers tried to slow the car down by surrounding it as it sped down the highway; around Exit 158, in Prince William County, the car rammed one of the police cars twice, the state police said, causing a chain-reaction crash among three state police cars, the police said.

Five troopers were treated and released at a hospital, the police said.

The southbound lanes of I-95 in Woodbridge were closed for about two hours. Rubbernecking led to two separate crashes that occurred in the main and Express Lanes going northbound.

The car, a Ford Fiesta, kept going. The state police said they found it in the parking lot of a restaurant about a half-mile away on Prince William Parkway, and arrested a 19-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man a little after 8 a.m. They didn’t release the suspects’ names, and said charges are pending.

The police are still looking for two men who ran off.

They added that a silver Honda Civic with Virginia license plate VHU-7931 was reported stolen about a mile and a half away on Paxton Street at about 7:25 a.m. They’re still working out whether that’s connected to the chase.

The police are asking anyone with more information to call them at 703-803-0026 or emailing questions@vsp.virginia.gov.

After nearly 50 years, Dale City Music is closing

After nearly five decades serving musicians, students and families from the same Dale Boulevard location, Dale City Music is preparing to close its doors, ending a 48-year run as a locally owned music store and community resource, according to multiple sources. The store, at 4367 Dale Blvd., is slated to close July 31. An employee, Adren Harris, told InsideNoVa the owners decided to shut down amid rising commercial rents and concerns about taking on unsustainable debt. “Our last day of normal business will be this Friday,” Harris said. Harris said the store’s owners determined closing was preferable to continuing under increasingly difficult financial conditions.
