2 sent to hospital after crash that shut down part of Beltway

Two people are in the hospital after a crash that shut down the Beltway in Maryland near Georgia Avenue for about an hour Sunday morning. Montgomery County Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said one car hit another and trapped the driver of the striking car inside.



The person was freed and taken to the hospital, along with another adult who had nonlife threatening injuries.

$8M in funding for school-based wellness centers approved by Montgomery County Council

In a series of hearings Tuesday, the Montgomery County Council approved spending designed to provide a range of services for young people and their families at the Maryland county's high schools. The council approved $3 million for portable classrooms, $2 million in funding for the wellness centers, and another $3 million for mental health programming and youth development programs.
