Passenger dead, driver injured after crash in Fairfax Co.

A woman is dead and another injured after a single vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Fairfax County, Virginia.

It happened around 4 a.m. at Poplar Tree Road and Leighfield Street in Chantilly.

Fairfax County police said the crash sent two women to the hospital, where one of them — the passenger — later died.



The driver is now recovering from her injuries.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash, but officers said the scene will not affect traffic.

NVR founder Dwight Schar, longtime DC business leader, to retire

Dwight Schar, founder of Reston, Virginia-based homebuilder and mortgage lender NVR, will retire following the company’s annual shareholder meeting May 5, stepping down as chairman of the board, a position he has held since 1993. Schar, 80, joined Ryan Homes in 1968. He left Ryan Homes to start NVHomes in 1980, and NVHomes subsequently acquired Ryan Homes to form NVR. He served as CEO through June 2005, building NVR into the third-largest homebuilder in the country.
