BW Parkway reopens after woman struck and killed

A woman is dead after she was struck by a car on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Maryland on Wednesday morning.

It happened around 5:45 a.m. on the northbound lanes, just north of MD-197 near Laurel. All  northbound lanes in that area were shut down but reopened at around 8:30 a.m.

U.S. Park Police believes the 26-year-old woman was hit while walking on the parkway.

No cars stayed on the scene and police said there aren’t any witnesses.

1 tornado confirmed in Anne Arundel County during Tuesday’s storms

At least one tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, during Tuesday's storms in the D.C. region. An EF-1 tornado landed in Lake Shore near Patapsco Road at 6:15 p.m. NWS officials determined that the estimated peak winds of the tornado was 100 mph. The twister was on the ground for two minutes as it was around three-quarters of mile long and 160 yards wide.
