5 hospitalized after Metrobus crash in Northwest DC

Five people are hospitalized after a Metrobus crash in Northwest D.C., officials said. On Thursday about 3 p.m., officials said a driver crashed into a Metrobus on the 2900 block of 14th St. Northwest. A DC Fire and EMS spokesman said six people were on the bus at the time of the crash, with one leaving the scene in lieu of emergency transportation. Officials also said that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash declined EMS service.

Lawmakers vote down bill to curb DC encampment evictions

Legislation aimed at putting provisions on how D.C. runs its encampment clearing pilot fell short in a delayed council vote, dashing the hopes of those who feel the evictions during hypothermia season are unjust. The legislation came about after a man was picked up by a Bobcat front-end loader while inside his tent at a D.C. homeless encampment this fall. Ward 1 Council member Brianne Nadeau and At-Large Council member Elissa Silverman worked together to amend the bill, which their colleagues said was too broad.
