Foo Fighters to hold surprise concert at 9:30 Club

D.C.’s 9:30 Club continues its reopening celebration with a surprise guest for rock fans: the Foo Fighters will headline the final opening week concert Thursday. The music venue announced the guest in a tweet Wednesday. It almost immediately sold out.

The 9:30 Club will require all audience members to be fully vaccinated or have a negative test from the past 72 hours. This is a homecoming of sorts: Lead singer Dave Grohl grew up in Springfield, Virginia. He also featured D.C. in his docuseries “Sonic Highways.”

Lawmakers vote down bill to curb DC encampment evictions

Legislation aimed at putting provisions on how D.C. runs its encampment clearing pilot fell short in a delayed council vote, dashing the hopes of those who feel the evictions during hypothermia season are unjust. The legislation came about after a man was picked up by a Bobcat front-end loader while inside his tent at a D.C. homeless encampment this fall. Ward 1 Council member Brianne Nadeau and At-Large Council member Elissa Silverman worked together to amend the bill, which their colleagues said was too broad.
