DC police arrest man suspected of killing 18-year-old woman

Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old woman in Northwest D.C. Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

On Sunday, D.C. police said that it arrested Jereal Booker, 21, of Northwest.

An arrest warrant for Booker had been issued by the D.C. Superior Court since police originally reported Talaya Campbell’s death on Friday.

He has been charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role in the killing of Campbell.

On Friday, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 500 block of Irving Street NW around 1:10 p.m. They found Campbell, who did not have a fixed address, inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders pronounced her dead on the scene.

Police said detectives found the shooting to be “domestic in nature.”
