Two people have been shot and four were arrested after a shooting and car chase near the Eaton Elementary School construction site in D.C. on Thursday afternoon.

Both people who were shot are expected to survive, police said.

D.C. Police said the shooting happened at around 1:40 p.m. on Macomb Street near 34th Street Northwest.

D.C. Police said they saw four people fire shots from a Dodge Charger, hitting one adult in the leg and another adult in the arm.

No children were involved in the shooting, as both students and teachers are at a temporary space at the University of the District of Columbia during the Eaton campus construction.

D.C. Police Assistant Chief Andre Wright said Secret Service arrived and provided medical help to the two shooting victims, while D.C. Police — joined by U.S. Park Police cars and a Park Police helicopter — pursed the Dodge Charger.

The chase ended at Chaplin Road and F Street Northwest when the Charger hit an unoccupied vehicle, Wright said at a news conference.

Three adults and one juvenile were taken into custody. No police were injured, Wright said, noting that multiple firearms were recovered from the car.

“This is swift teamwork by the community and our law enforcement partner agencies to bring this brazen shooting to a quick close,” Wright said.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
