Search for missing teen in Shenandoah National Park suspended

Shenandoah National Park staff in Virginia have suspended the search for a teenager who was last seen on Skyline Drive on Thursday night.

Ty Sauer, 18, was last seen at mile 35 of Skyline Drive.

On Monday, searchers found a body believed to be Sauer about 2.5 miles from the boundary in Rappahannock County and some 2 miles from where he was last seen.

The remains are being taken to the medical examiner’s office for identification and determination of cause of death.

Claire Comer with Shenandoah National Park said that about 65 search and rescue personnel and five dog teams looked for the teenager since he went missing.

The following trails and park areas near Hazel Mountain that were closed during the search have reopened.
